Calgene, Monsanto deal

The companies cross-licensed their oilseed research programs. CGNE will receive a license to current and future Monsanto agronomic technology for use in combination with CGNE's oils modification genes to develop specialty canola oil products.
Monsanto will receive a royalty-bearing license to CGNE's technology to develop agronomically superior corn soybean and sunflower crops. Royalties will be based on sales of insect resistant corn, soybean and sunflower seed with increased oil content and modified meal composition using CGNE technology. Monsanto will make a $17 million cash payment to CGNE and will receive a portion of future profits from CGNE's specialty oils business. ...
