At the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting in Philadelphia, researchers presented positive results of a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial of Aredia in preventing skeletal related episodes (SRE) in breast cancer patients with bone metastases treated with chemotherapy.
The trial compared a 2-hour infusion of 90 mg of Aredia every three to four weeks for 12 months to placebo. SREs included pathologic fracture, cord compression, radiation or surgery to bone, and hypercalcemia. ...
