GNE researchers, writing in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, reported that leptin may work via two mechanisms, regulating food intake by signaling satiety and reducing body fat content via a separate mechanism.
GNE researchers compared the effects of leptin with food restriction in normal and genetically obese (ob/ob) mice. While both genetically obese and normal mice ate less food and lost weight and body fat when treated with leptin, appetite suppression was less striking in normal than in obese mice. ...
