In the second surgery, Repel was placed in the surgical sites in 12 rabbits, while 12 more were not given the treatment but only had their adhesions removed. Extensive adhesions formed in 11 of 12 of the untreated rabbits, while 6 of the treated 12 had no adhesions and the other 6 had minimal adhesions.

The adhesions in untreated rabbits covered 80 percent or more of the traumatized area. In the 6 treated rabbits with adhesions, the damage was limited to <10 percent of the surgical site and was along the borders of the product, suggesting that a larger treatment might have eliminated the scarring. ...
