Hirulog direct thrombin inhibitor data

Researchers presented data from BGEN's HERO study of Hirulog, showing a statistically significant improvement compared to heparin in opening blood vessels in patients suffering heart attacks. Results were presented at the American College of Cardiology meeting in Orlando, Fla.
The primary end point was the incidence of early TIMI-Grade III flow patency, indicating normal flow of blood through vessels. Half the patients receiving the high dose of Hirulog showed fully open vessels within 90-120 minutes, compared to one-third of heparin patients. The difference was statistically significant.
