A second report of a gene on chromosome 1 linked to an early-onset form of Alzheimer's disease was published in Nature.

The gene, E5-1, is similar to the S182 gene on chromosome 14, and apparently is the same as that published in Science by a team of researchers from Darwin Molecular Corp. and university collaborators (see BioCentury Aug. 21) ...
