BioTransplant preclinical data

BioTransplant published a summary of its recent work on xenotransplantation in animals in Nature Medicine. The Charlestown, Mass., company showed that absorption of antibodies by perfusing the host animal's blood through a matrix containing the alpha-1,3-Gal epitope can prevent hyperacute rejection.

Also, the company has used recombinant swine cytokines, including stem cell factor and interleukin-3, to prolong survival of pig marrow cells in monkeys. As a result, the monkeys' mixed lymphocyte reaction to pig was lost. ...
