BioTransplant, MedImmune Inc. deal

The companies will develop products to treat and prevent organ rejection using MEDI's anti-T cell receptor antibody MEDI-500 and BioTransplant's BTI-322 antibody. MEDI received worldwide exclusive rights to develop and commercialize BTI-322, BioTransplant's antibody to reverse organ rejection in kidney transplant patients.

BioTransplant (Charlestown, Mass.) received a $2 million license fee, and may receive up to $14 million in milestones and research support. MEDI (Gaithersburg, Md.) will fund and assume responsibility for clinical testing and commercialization of resulting products.
