UCSF researchers published in the American Journal of Pathology a strategy to predict which breast cancers in patients without lymph node involvement on initial surgery are likely to recur.

Among 48 women whose cancer was tracked for five years, the 25 whose cancers recurred had on average a greater number of genetic aberrations (DNA sequence gains and losses) than the 23 whose cancers did not recur (p=0.019). ...
