Alpha Therapeutic received exclusive rights to develop VX-366, VRTX's orally deliverable compound to treat inherited hemoglobin disorders, including sickle cell anemia and beta thalassemia, in North, Central and South America.

Alpha (Los Angeles),which specializes in plasma-derived biopharmaceutical products, will pay a $5 million initial license fee, milestones, and additional fees to maintain an option to acquire second generation compounds developed by VRTX.
