Anesta, Abbott deal

NSTA reacquired from Abbott the international rights to the oral transmucosal fentanyl product line. William Moeller, president and CEO, said NSTA believed it could negotiate international partnerships for the drug delivery system more quickly than under the existing arrangement.

Abbott will handle manufacturing for clinical and commercial supplies of OT-fentanyl for territories outside the U.S. In addition, Moeller said, the agreement does not preclude Abbott as a potential marketing partner.
