NCI scientists and collaborators demonstrated that Kaposi's sarcoma may be treatable with hCG, a hormone secreted early in pregnancy. The finding may also explain why KS is rare in women, as the monthly cyclic hormones closely resemble hCG.

As published in Nature, hCG's beta chain killed KS cells from two neoplastic cell lines, and also stopped growth in culture of fresh isolates of KS from patients. ...
