Researchers demonstrated that an adenovirus vector, considered as a vehicle for gene delivery to blood vessel cells, causes inflammatory reactions that would be counterproductive to preventing reclosure of arteries after angioplasty.
As reported in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, blood vessels from rabbits infused with the vector showed inflammation and expression of molecules associated with atherosclerosis. ...
