Fibromed presented preclinical data showing that FM-4011, its lead compound, prevented the deposition of excess collagen in the heart by inhibiting the action of lysyl oxidase, which is essential to the deposition of collagen throughout the body.
According to Fibromed, 30-40 percent of all CHF is due to excess collagen deposits in the heart. There is no treatment to reverse myocardial fibrosis, which also may be caused by high blood pressure and enlargement of the myocardium. ...
