Somatogen preclinical data

SMTG (Boulder, Colo.) presented animal data showing that its rHb1.1 recombinant human hemoglobin can deliver oxygen to tissues with energy production at levels indistinguishable from that provided by whole blood.

As described at a meeting on Current Issues in Blood Substitute Research and Development in San Diego, real-time 31P NMR spectroscopy was used to monitor phosphorous metabolism in the brain and gut of rats.
