The San Diego company received three $75,000 Phase I SBIR's from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke to develop its multiple sclerosis (MS) and corticotropin releasing factor (CRF) programs. The first grant will fund development of T cell receptor or myelin basic protein antagonists to treat MS.
The second grant will be used to delineate the structural characteristics of a CRF antagonist molecule that will block the CRF receptor. CRF is hypersecreted in clinically depressed patients, resulting in excessive binding to CRF receptors. Neurocrine also will attempt to discover derivatives with increased in vivo efficacy. ...
