SNX-111 N-type calcium channel blocker data

Researchers reported on 7 patients in an ongoing Phase II double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose-finding study of the N-type calcium channel blocker. As presented at the International Symposium on the Pharmacology of Cerebral Ischemia in Marburg, Germany, 3 of the 7 died as a result of physical injuries. The 4 surviving patients had good to excellent outcomes at their discharge from the hospital, and their progress was followed for up to 18 months. Three patients had such severe neurological damage that the likelihood of death or a persistent vegetative state had been considered high prior to treatment.
