Viracept nelfinavir data
Independent researchers reported at the International Conference on AIDS in Vancouver on a Phase II dose-ranging trial of Viracept in 30 patients. Patients had baseline CD4 counts >200 and HIV RNA titers >20,000 copies. Doses tested were 500, 750, or 1000 mg three times a day. After 28 days of monotherapy, viral loads fell 1.4, 1.9, and 1.7 logs respectively. In 50 to 60 percent of patients receiving the two higher doses, viral loads fell below the level of detection (500 copies/ml).
Patients who continued monotherapy for three months after the initial 28 days had viral loads of 0.6, 1.2, and 1.5 logs below baseline, respective to the three doses. Mean increase in CD4 counts after four months was 60 to 183 cells above baseline. ...
