University researchers and international collaborators published in Science a preliminary map of the human genome. The map contains 15,086 sequence-tagged sites (STS) with an average spacing of 199 kilobases. The map provides coverage of 94 percent of the genome, and provides a scaffold for large-scale sequencing, the authors said. ...
