French researchers examined the outcomes of 3,233 short children treated with hGH in France between 1973 and 1989 and found that treatment did not restore normal growth.

The patients had a mean baseline height standard deviation score of -3.0, and a mean target height SD score of -0.9 (based on parental height). The children received, on average, 0.4 IU/kg/week for 4.4 years. The mean final height SD score after treatment was -2.0 (1.61 meters for boys and 1.49 meters for girls, an average gain of 1.0 from baseline). ...
