AZN's Canadian drug allotment program

AstraZeneca (LSE:AZN; AZN) confirmed that its AstraZeneca Canada business sent an April 9 letter informing Canadian pharmaceutical wholesalers and retailers that the pharma company will begin an "allotment program" for its drugs. The letter was sent after AZN noticed "unusually large orders" for certain drugs, including gastrointestinal products Losec ( Prilosec) and Nexium, that the company said were "not consistent with historical buying patterns." AZN spokesperson Rachel Bloom-Baglin said the program will require customers placing orders larger than previous amounts to document why the increase has occurred and where the drugs are going. ...
