CMS releases Part B acquisition rule

CMS released and solicited comment on an interim final rule implementing the competitive acquisition program for Medicare Part B drugs. Under the CAP, which was mandated in the Medicare Modernization Act, physicians order drugs from vendors who bill Medicare and collect coinsurance or deductibles from patients. Physicians who do not participate in the program can purchase drugs directly from drug suppliers and be paid 106% of the manufacturers' average sales price (ASP) by Medicare. ...
