Brazil presses for lower Kaletra prices

Brazil's Minister of Health, Jose Saraiva Felipe, said Brazilian laboratories could produce and sell Kaletra lopinavir/ritonavir from Abbott (ABT) for $0.41 per pill, compared with ABT's price of $1.17 per pill. Brazil has been threatening ABT with a compulsory license if ABT does not deeply discount the HIV drug. Brazil previously requested that ABT price Kaletra at $0.68, which Brazil said was the cost of local generic manufacturing. ...
