Acambis reports earnings

Acambis (LSE:ACM; ACAM) reported a fourth quarter loss per share of 5.8p, off from EPS of 4.5p in the same period in 2004. Fourth quarter revenues were L23.9 million ($41.1 million), up 3% from L23.1 million in the prior year's quarter.

For the year, ACM had a loss per share of 24.3p, down from EPS of 18.5p in 2004. Revenues came in at L40.9 million ($70.3 million), down 52% from L85.5 million in 2004 but in line with the company's guidance of about L40 million. Last year, the company said it would choose making the required R&D investment over remaining profitable in the short term (see BioCentury Extra, Tuesday March 8, 2005). ACM's 2005 R&D expenditure increased to L34.1 million ($58.6 million) from L29.3 million ($50.4 million) in 2004. ...
