Oversight agency calls for reform at CIRM
June 30, 2009 12:38 AM UTC
The Little Hoover Commission published a report calling for management and structural reforms at the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine. The report by the independent state oversight agency recommended reducing CIRM's Independent Citizens' Oversight Committee (ICOC) from 29 members to 15, of whom four should be independent members with no ties to CIRM-funded entities. The commission also called for clarifying the roles of CIRM's president and chairman to eliminate overlapping authority, as well as improving the efficiency and transparency for distributing grants and loans.
