Kohl questions pharmas on drug prices

Sen. Herb Kohl (D-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Special Committee on Aging, sent letters to six pharmaceutical companies asking them to explain why Americans pay an average of twice as much for prescription drugs as those in other industrialized nations. Kohl asked the companies to explain the difference in price for their most popular drugs between the U.S. and other countries, as well as how those prices have changed over the past 10 years. He also asked how much of the companies' R&D budget comes from the U.S. government. He requested responses by April 5. ...
