Icahn calls for Genzyme changes

Carl Icahn reiterated his call for shareholders of Genzyme Corp. (NASDAQ:GENZ) to remove Chairman, President and CEO Henri Termeer from the company's board and unveiled his proposed plans for the company in an SEC filing on Wednesday. Icahn said that with 25 years as CEO, Termeer "may be too close to [the] company to effectively oversee" both the board and the company. The financier's filing noted that removing Termeer would communicate to FDA that Termeer is "no longer in full control" and restore patient and physician confidence.
