Lawmakers introduce regenerative medicine bill

Reps. Mike Castle (R-Del.) and Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) introduced the Regenerative Medicine Promotion Act to provide federal funds for regenerative medicine research. The bill would create two NIH translational research grant programs of $100 million each for research at non-profits or institutions and for collaborative partnerships between companies and non-profits or institutions. The proposed legislation would authorize $500 million in grants to private companies for basic research, preclinical testing and clinical trials of regenerative medicine products. FDA would receive $150 million under the bill for regulatory research on regenerative medicine products. ...
