Analysis suggests diabetes does not cause cancer

Researchers from the Steno Diabetes Center in Denmark reported data from a 13-year registry linkage analysis investigating the known association between diabetes, insulin use and cancer. The researchers said the data confirm the association between diabetes and cancer but indicate that diabetes does not cause cancer in itself. The increased risk of cancer was most pronounced in people using insulin and was highest at the start of insulin treatment and decreased over time.
