Policy group to launch healthcare project

A group of former Senate majority leaders will launch the Bipartisan Policy Center's Leaders' Project on the State of American Health Care on Wednesday. The project aims to produce policy recommendations to address the delivery, cost, coverage and financing challenges facing the U.S. healthcare system. The former Senate majority leaders, who formed the center as a policy incubator, are Howard Baker, Tom Daschle, Bob Dole and George Mitchell. They will direct the program with guidance from Chris Jennings, president of Jennings Policy Strategies and a former advisor to President Clinton; and Mark McClellan, director of the Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform at the Brookings Institution and former FDA commissioner and CMS administrator. ...
