Limbix is using virtual reality to treat mental health conditions, starting with adolescent depression, where it could offer an alternative to medicating kids and the long wait lists for therapists.

The company launched in 2016 to create a product backed by decades of research suggesting VR could play a meaningful role in mental health care, COO Jon Sockell told BioCentury.

More than 300 peer-reviewed studies have demonstrated that VR can help treat depression, anxiety, addiction, pain and other neurological disorders, he added.
