Targeting mycolate and non-mycolate lipids for TB

A team led by Texas A&M University and Weill Cornell Medical College researchers have reported in a Science paper the identification a narrow-spectrum tuberculosis compound that can kill multidrug resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
To identify the compound, dubbed 8918, the team screened a small molecule library from Sanofi (Euronext:SAN; NASDAQ:SNY) for M. tuberculosis growth inhibition and subsequently showed it directly inhibited phosphopantetheinyl transferase (PptT)...
