hESC-derived cells restore heart function after MI

A Nature Biotechnology study from University of Washington researchers suggests that cardiomyocytes derived from human embryonic stem cells could help restore heart function following myocardial infarction.
The paper's authors wrote that the heart lacks robust regenerative properties, with proliferation of cardiomyocytes at only 1% per year, and loses contractile ability after cardiac injury. ...
