Syros discontinues single agent tamibarotene

Syros Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:SYRS) said only one of 48 evaluable patients receiving tamibarotene (SY-1425) as monotherapy achieved a complete response in a Phase II trial to treat relapsed or refractory acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). The data were presented at the American Society of Hematology meeting in Atlanta. Syros said it does not plan to pursue further development of tamibarotene as a single agent.

The trial enrolled AML and MDS patients who were positive for the retinoic acid receptor alpha (RARA) and/or interferon regulatory factor 8 (IRF8) biomarkers.
