Obama asks Biden to lead cancer initiative

In his State of the Union address Tuesday, President Obama called on Vice President Joe Biden to lead a "moonshot" effort to cure cancer. In a blog post, Biden said he would work to increase public and private funding for cancer research and increase information sharing between stakeholders.

Biden said he would encourage cooperation among cancer centers and technology innovators to support data sharing and provide patients with access to their own data. "The Federal government will do everything it possibly can -- through funding, targeted incentives, and increased private sector coordination -- to support research and enable progress," he wrote. ...
