NinePoint raises $34 million in series B

Medical imaging company NinePoint Medical Inc. (Cambridge, Mass.) raised $34 million in a series B round led by new investor Corning Inc. (NYSE:GLW), which manufacturers glass and ceramics for high-tech applications in life sciences and other industries. Existing investors Third Rock Ventures and Prospect Venture Partners also participated.

NinePoint develops medical devices that enable high resolution in vivo imaging. The company markets its NvisionVLE Imaging System in the U.S. as a real-time imaging tool to evaluate human tissue microstructure, including esophageal tissue microstructure. The system uses optical coherence tomography (OCT) technology licensed from Massachusetts General Hospital (see SciBX: Science-Business eXchange, Feb. 14, 2013). ...
