An article published last week in Science shows that a subset of a class of antibiotics called lantibiotics works through an unexpected mechanism against which bacteria have yet to develop resistance.

Oragenics Inc., which co-authored the paper, says its lead lantibiotic, Mutacin 1140, works by the newly described mechanism and is the closest molecule in its class to clinical testing...
