When James Inglese and Douglas Auld were getting their screening lab set up at NIH, they encountered more red tape than expected. As a result, the researchers found themselves flush with a scarce resource - free time. The time was not spent idly, as they used it to theorize a new screening system that would overcome many limitations of current high throughput technology. Recently, they and colleagues published the system in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
