Molecular Devices (MDCC) tumbled following Tuesday's announcement that its first quarter EPS came in at $0.10 - half of what the Street had expected. The company, which sells bioanalytical measurement systems for drug discovery and life science research, lost $478.3 million of market cap on the day, falling $28.99 (58%) to $21 on 8.5 million shares. For the week, MDCC lost $30.178 (62%) to $18.76, giving it a market cap of $309.5 million. MDCC said recent order data suggest that several of its pharma and biotech customers may have delayed or postponed purchasing decisions as a result of the current economic uncertainty. ...
