Germany picks its winners

The German Federal Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Technology last week announced the three winners of its Bio-Regio competition, which was designed to signal the federal government's support for biotechnology in Germany.

The winning regions were Initiativkreis Biotechnologie Munchen (Munich), BioRegio Rheinland (the area of North Rhine Westphalia consisting of Cologne, Duesseldorf, Wuppertal and Aachen), and BioRegion Rehin-Neckar-Dreieck (Heidelberg, Ludwigshafen and Mannheim).
