In animal models of AMD and diabetic retinopathy, intravitreal injections of 2, 5 and 20 µg PRM-167 significantly reduced mean area of neovascularization by 40%, 43% and 50%, respectively, vs. vehicle-treated controls. The 0.2 µg dose of PRM-167 did not lead to significant reductions. PRM-167 also reduced vascular leakage and collagen deposition vs. controls. Additionally, mice treated with PRM-167 had a significant increase in IL-10 mRNA and significant reductions in macrophage markers vs. controls.
