Tideglusib: Phase II data
The double-blind, international Phase II TAUROS trial in 146 patients with possible or probable mild to moderate PSP showed that tideglusib missed the primary endpoint of improving Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Rating Scale of Golbe scores from baseline to week 52 vs. placebo. Details were not disclosed. Data from a subgroup of 41 patients who underwent MRI as part of the trial showed that tideglusib significantly reduced progression of global cerebral atrophy, particularly in the parietal and occipital lobes, vs. placebo. However, there were no significant differences between treatment groups in the third ventricle, mesencephalic region or protuberance, which Noscira said are areas normally affected by PSP. Patients received placebo or once-daily 600 or 800 mg oral tideglusib administered in fasting conditions for 52 weeks. Data were presented at the Alzheimer's Association International meeting in Vancouver. ...
