Genetic Technologies filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado against the defendants, including Sanofi's Merial Ltd. animal health subsidiary, Roche's 454 Life Sciences Corp. subsidiary and Eurofins' Eurofins STA Laboratories Inc. affiliate alleging infringement of U.S. Patent No. 5,612,179, which covers an intron sequence analysis method for detection of adjacent locus alleles as haplotypes. The '179 patent expired March 9, 2010, but Genetic Technologies is claiming the defendants infringed on at least one of the '179 claims during the patent's term and is seeking damages "not less than a reasonable royalty." ...
