Atossa Genetics, Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation deal

Atossa acquired patent rights from the foundation to develop and commercialize a biomarker test that examines carbohydrates contained in nipple aspirate fluid using a sensitive detection reagent. Atossa plans to conduct clinical research to determine if the fluid-based biomarker test can form the basis for a clinical screening test for breast cancer, but has not disclosed details. The company said that the test showed potential in a pilot study in 28 women conducted by the University of California (San Francisco, Calif.), in which the test was positive in all 12 women who had known breast cancer. The foundation received an undisclosed upfront payment from Atossa and is eligible for undisclosed royalties. ...
