ProteoTech received two Phase I SBIR grants totaling $371,487 from the National Institute of Aging, one to isolate and identify the ingredients in its PTI-00703 plant extract that inhibits the formation of amyloid protein deposits, which are thought to be involved in AD, and the other to study a structural feature of the carbohydrate portion of proteoglycans thought to enhance the formation of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles, both features of AD.
