A preclinical study compared the survival of masked porcine transplanted neurons to that of unmasked neurons transplanted into animals given an immunosuppressant. Masking is DCRN's method of immunomodulation designed to avoid the need for immunosuppressives.
In 32 rats with porcine LGE transplants treated with a daily immunosuppressant, graft survival was 72 percent, compared to 81 percent for the 16 rats receiving masked LGE transplants and no immunosuppressants. ...
