Gilead preclinical data

GILD presented preclinical data at the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, demonstrating 100 percent survival in mice exposed to the virus with treatment or prophylaxis with GS 4104. Survival rates in controls were 13 percent in the treatment group and 15 percent in the prophylaxis group.

The carbocyclic compound is an inhibitor of the viral neuraminidase, which promotes release of new viral particles from infected cells. GS 4104 was given twice daily for five days at 10 mg/kg. No toxicities were found in rats at dosing of more than 100 times the anticipated human dose. Oral bioavailability ranges from 30-100 percent in different preclinical models. ...
