Epivir 3TC data

Patients in the discontinued CAESAR study combining 3TC with other anti-HIV treatments had a 54 percent reduction in the rate of disease progression and death, according to a preliminary analysis presented at the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy. The study was discontinued in July because the data exceeded the requirement for finding superior efficacy of one treatment arm.

The clinical end point, disease progression or death, was reached in 80 of 935 patients (9 percent) who added Epivir to their ongoing regimen. The rate was 17 percent (81 of 482) in patients adding a placebo. ...
