Human Genome Sciences, Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. deal

HGSI and Pioneer will collaborate under a gene discovery and licensing agreement involving corn genomics. HGSI will receive $16 million over three years from Pioneer for its participation in sequencing, identifying and determining the functionality of corn genes. The relationship is exclusive for five years.

Pioneer will evaluate the corn genes that are discovered and will own all sequence information and intellectual property developed by the collaboration; it also will have the right to develop products in other crop species based on the genes discovered in corn. ...
