Aradigm regulatory update

Aradigm received U.S. Patent No. 5,394,866, covering its SmartMist Asthma Management System that optimizes the use of standard metered dose inhaler (MDI) canisters. The Hayward, Calif., company also received U.S. Patent No. 5,392,768 covering methods for optimizing the release of aerosol drug from an MDI canister. The MDI canister releases drug only at a preset point in the inspiratory cycle, ensuring reproducibility of the dose, Aradigm said.
